Description

Soy Protein Isolate (SPI) is a concentrated source of high-quality soy protein. SPI supplies the necessary amino acids, including the essential amino acids, to help support muscle growth. In fact, research shows that SPI is just as effective as whey protein for building muscle. SPI provides glutamine and arginine, two amino acids associated with hormone release and immune function. SPI also contains naturally-occurring antioxidants.

    Quality Source, Okay Taste/Texture

Posted by Jaime Antonio Morales on 14th Apr 2016

My favorite thing about this is that it is non GMO. I like to support non GMO products for economic and environmental reasons. It is also cheaper than most whey and HardRhino's is probably one of the cheapest out there depending on the season or the sales going on on other websites. However, non GMO is not as easy to find in other places and given this price, the value is GREAT. Hard Rhino was also kind enough to throw in a free shaker bottle and BOTH of my last two orders. That's great service!

The texture is a little chalky yet still watered down. Its a bit thinner than other protein powders I had. Even with less water, it TASTES and feels less thick than other soy powders I had. However, its unflavored anyway and no unflavored powder tastes particularly good by itself. This tastes just fine when mixed in smoothies or with sweeteners added.

The macros are great as well, as they should be since this is an isolate. And finally, after taking this for a long time, I have not experienced gyno or man boobs of any kind.

Cheap High Quality Alternative To Pair With Whey Isolate

Posted by John W. on 26th Sep 2014

I've been routinely buying 90% Whey Isolate from HardRhino as part of Do It Yourself Soylent recipe. I have more then doubled the amount of protein in my recipe which has caused my cost to increase dramatically on a per day per meal basis. On top of that the cost of Whey Isolate has been slowly but steadily rising from where it was six months ago. This lead me to consider alternatives, not necessarily to replace, but to pair with Whey Isolate to create a blend. After digging through all the trash talk and pseudo science put out by the Whey industry I came to the conclusion that Soy Isolate is a complete, bio available, and in some ways improved protein source.

Now I know *exactly* what I eat because I make my own liquid nutrition. So I'm not saying that for folks eating traditional food if they have concerns about the pervasive presence of Soy in our food supply that they shouldn't be concerned about over saturation. What I am saying is if you aren't drinking Soy milk and eating processed foods loaded with Soy filler, don't be afraid to try Soy Isolate, it's great for maintaining muscle when reducing calories and for several amino's is actually richer then Whey Isolate. Again, not advocating as a replacement, but as a blend or part of a rotation Soy Isolate can save you money and provide benefits!

So now I will step off the Soy Isolate isn't the devil train and talk about THIS product specifically. Hard Rhino say's it's GMO free, so thats cool, I don't really care personally but for those that do. Product comes (in the 11 pound variety) in a giant double bagged heavy duty zip tied inside a box. Not ideal for usage/storage but I just break it down into food grade "tubs". This product IS a bit harder to work with then whey. Where whey tends to clump and stick/bind to itself, Soy Isolate is a much finer powder and tends to aerosol with far less agitation or effort. I find myself routinely coughing/sneezing while prepping large quantities and then wiping everything down within 5-10 foot due to the fine mist of powder that has settled. Again not the end of the world, it's just a result of the physical characteristics of the product.

Taste is fine. Whey is certainly better taste/texture wise but this is still miles above Pea Protein for taste/texture.

TLDR: Soy is Cheap, Soy Has certain advantages over whey (amino profile), Soy isn't dangerous if you know your food sources, Soy will not make you grow man boobs.
